All Classes: we just finished the first module with the new software and grades are posted. Whew!
I had to "Adjust" many of the grades because of "difficulties" associated with the new software.
I do believe we will be able to work these difficulties out over the next trimester. I will continue to adjust grades as needed.
Please call me if you have concerns as I will work with all students to help them achieve.

APPLIED TECHNOLOGY-LAKEVIEW JR. HIGH
The trimester ends the 12th of November. Just over two weeks left to complete all of your work.
6th Grade: The 6th grade is on day 6 1/2 of the third module. This module the students are working in pairs on individual modules (not like the first two where the were all working on the same thing).
7th Grade: The 7th grade is starting the fourth module Wednesday and should finish this module by the end of the trimester.
8th Grade: The 8th grade is on day four of the fourth module.
We are behind schedule this trimester because we spent extra days on the "Orientation" at the beginning of the trimester waiting for our new software. We currently have the new software but haven't worked the "bugs" out of it yet. Hope to have it operational by second trimester.

APPLIED TECHNOLOGY-LAKEVIEW JR. HIGH
6th Grade: they turned their rockets yesterday (10-7) and they have all been graded. Students will recieve their Rocket Grading Rubric sheets today in class. They will make any necessary repairs to their rocket. We will also be handing out rocket engines to put in the rockets.
Tomorrow or Monday we will go outside and fly the rockets during class.
7th Grade: they are finishing their second module tomorrow, Friday 10-8.
8th Grade: They started their third module yesterday.
Cross Country News: The boys are currently 6-0 and the girls are 3-3. We have a meet today at Butler (with Westmont).

6th Grade: They are in the third module day #8. They will finish next Monday or Tuesday.

Applied Technology 4-20-10
After missing school for a week following the spring break, last week was a wash for me. It took until the end of the week until I started feeling better.
6th Grade: Currently working on the Space and Rocketry module. Tomorrow, Wednesday the rocket project is due. We will work on the project in class, putting on the stickers, installing the rocket engines, adding the "wadding" and installing the igniter in the rocket engine. They will then be ready to launch them. Next week is our projected launch time, when the weather is good we will be ready to launch.
7th Grade: Working on their second module. Projected completion date is next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Applied Technology 3-11-10
All Classes:
We started a new trimester this week. All students have an "Orientation Packet". This packet is a set of papers containing the information they will need for this trimester.
Parents "should" have received a paper to sign and returned to the teacher last Monday. It was due on Tuesday.
Lab Fees ($20) are due this coming Wednesday (3-17).

Applied Technology 3-4-10
Well, we are almost done with this trimester. ISAT's are playing havoc with our schedule this week. Classes are rotated around the ISAT's so that students do not miss the same classes each day.
All classes will receive only one grade from this module. The grade will be a combined "Worksheet" and "Lab Performance" grade. It will be based on how many days we spent on the module and how much they should have accomplished for the number of days.

Applied Technology 2-26-10
This coming week is the last week of the trimester. All work needs to be completed by Friday.
ISAT's are next week.
6th Grade: They are on module number 4. They should be in or near lesson 5 by now.
7th Grade: They are on module number 5. They are on day #3. We will have to skip a few things in order to finish on time next Friday. So far I told the kids they can skip the "Env. Impacts" and the Career Activity. We will play it by ear next week with the ISAT's.

Applied Technology 1-19-10
6th Grade: The rockets are almost finished. Tomorrow, Wednesday they should be finished. They can then be brought home to spray paint them for extra credit. I will be providing shoe boxes for the transport and thus avoid damage. They need to be brought back by next Monday.
7th Grade: We are on module #2, Day #5, Lesson 4. Should be finished by the end of the week.
8th Grade: They are on module #3, Day #2.

Applied Technology 1-11-10
Happy New Year To All
This is IOWA standardize test week.
6th grade is working on the Space and Rocketry Module. They started to build the rockets last week and should finish it this week. They can bring it home and spray paint it for extra credit when we finish working on it in class. If they spray paint it, spray paint works best because the fins and nosecone are made of plastic and not all paints work well on plastic.
They are required to put some of the stickers on it as part of the project. The stickers are included in the kit.
I will be posting the due date as soon as we get closer to finishing the rocket in class.
