Applied Technology 12-16-09

6th Grade: We will finish the first module today. Grades will be posted by winter break...........
7th Grade: We are in lesson 6. This is the first lesson that we will begin the animation of our project. We should finish this module just after break.
8th Grade: Tomorrow, Thursday 12-17 will be the last day of the module. Grades will hopefully be posted before break.

Applied Technology 12-3-09

We have finished most of the "Orientation" for the new classes this week. We started modules in each of the classes today. Next week will be a productive week as we will be able to really get into the modules.
We hope to finish this current module by the time the winter break begins.

Applied Technology 11-16-09

All Classes: All make up work is due by this Friday 11-20-09. Be sure to come in to open lab to complete work as soon as possible.
6th Grade: Day 4 in module number 4.

7th Grade: Day 5 in module number 5.

8th Grade: Day 4 in module number 6.

Applied Technology 11-5-09

6th Grade: They finished their third module yesterday and the grades have been posted. There is a lot of make up work students need to do. They can come to the open labs in the morning and during study hall. They have a list of all the days and times in their "Orientation Packet".

7th Grade: They are in the first days of thier fifth module.

8th Grade: They are finishing the last days of the fifth module. They should finish Monday.

Congratulations to the Cross Country teams on their fine performances in the conference meet Thursday.
The boy's team finished in second place just a few points from first.
Amanda took first place in the girls race with a winning two mile time of 12:22.

Applied Tech:
6th Grade is on their third module. This module they are working on their own without the teacher explaining each step. The first two modules the teacher guided the entire class on the same module. Now they are each doing separate modules.
7th Grade: 1st period started their fourth module today and is on Day 1. Second period is on day 2 1/2 of the fourth module.
8th Grade: Both classes are on Day 6 of the fourth module.

Applied Technology 10-8-09

6th Grade: We finished our rockets Wednesday and turned them in for grading. Some of the paint jobs were outstanding. Micah's paint job was the best I have seen in all the years of doing this project. We will fly the rockets as soon as the weather allows.
7th Grade: They are on day two and three for 1st and 2nd period of their third module.
8th Grade: They are on day five for 5th period and day six for 8th period.
Remember we have a number of times in the morning and during study halls for students to come to the lab and do make up work.

Cross Country runs in the Sectional meet this weekend. We hope to have a number of runners qualify for the state meet the following weekend.

Applied Technology 9-29-09

6th Grade: We are working on the Space and Rocketry module. We have spent several days in the classroom working on the model rocket construction. They should be ready to fly soon. I will have the students take them home this week so they can spray paint them. I have told them several times to let their parents know about the spray painting. So, parents don't be surprised when they ask you (maybe at the last minute) to get some spray paint for the rocket.
We will fly the rockets on a nice day once the rockets are graded.
7th Grade: Is working on their second module. We should be done with this module at the end of this week or the beginning of next week.
8th Grade: They are nearing the end of the second module. They should be done in the next two days.

Applied Technology 9-18-09

6th Grade: Finished the first module and it now on the "Space and Rocketry" module. We will start building the rockets next week and fly them at the end of the module.
7th Grade: Second period finished the Animation module today and will start new modules next Monday. First period will finish the Animation module Monday and start their new modules on Tuesday.
8th Grade: They are on their second modules, Day 3.

Applied Technology 9-14-09

6th Grade: Working on Lesson 4 and 5 of the "Introduction to Technology" module. We should finish on Tuesday or Wednesday.
7th Grade: Working on Lesson 5 & 6 of the "Animation" module. This group should finish in a few more days. It all depends on how much extra work the students want to put into their animations.
8th Grade: Working independently on the various modules in the lab. They are on their 9th day and should finish by Tuesday or Wednesday.
When the modules are completed I will post the grades within a day or two.

We are off and running!
Students are starting their modules today.
6th Grade is starting the "Introduction To Technology" module. We are doing this module all together as a class.
7th Grade is starting the "Animation" module. We are all doing this module together as a class.
8th Grade is starting their individule modules. Each group is working on a different technology.

Cross country is still looking for more runners, especially girls.

We finally flew the 6th grade rockets this week. The weather was great. The kids had a fun time chasing their rockets after launch. Sorry for those that got muddy.

7th Grade finished their Animations yesterday and turned in their papers. I have graded them and returned them today. Check grades on-line.

Applied Technology 4-13-09

6th Grade: We are in Lesson 2 of the Space and Rocketry module. Students started their rocket project today. We should be done with the rocket sometime next week. You can spray paint it at home for extra credit (up to 10 points).

7th Grade: Working on the final steps of the animation. Students are working on adding sound and text. For extra credit they can add rain, lightning, fade the text or add extra text.
Students should finish the module Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

8th Grade: Students are in the third day of the second module. They will finish sometime next week.

6th Grade: In lesson 3 of the first module, Introduction to Technology. Things seem to be going well.
7th Grade: In lesson 3 of the first module, Animation. Started the animation yesterday. Working on the hill.

Well, we made it through another trimester. We ended the second trimester last Friday. All grades have gone out. Students in 8th grade almost completed six modules, 7th grade completed five and sixth grade completed four modules.
Good Luck to all of my second trimester students in their new class, Health.

I now take over the students that were in Music last trimester. The first week of class we spend on "Orientation" for the lab. Students are given a packet the first day and will keep this for the entire trimester. We will refer back to this packet throughout the entire trimester.

We are near the end of the second trimester (a week and a half).
6th Grade: They are on day 3 1/2 of the fourth module.
7th Grade: They are on their fifth module.
8th Grade: They are on their sixth module.

Remember that the end of the trimester is NEXT Friday (not this Fri.). All work must be turned in by the end of the trimester (Friday 3/6/09). Good Luck.

6th Grade: Day 8 1/2. We should finish the third module next week.
7th Grade: We are on module #4 almost half way done. We might finish by the end of next week.
8th Grade: They are on the fifth module.

Applied Tech 1-23-09

Man this week went fast.

6th Grade: We are still on the Space and Rocketry module. Seventh hour is working on videos in the Deep Space Explorer software. Sixth hour is in lesson for working up to the D.S.E. software.
Rockets were turned in for grading Thursday. I hope to grade them this weekend. They are sitting next to my desk here at home in the boxes. I have a few pictures I hope to get on the blog next week.
We will fly the rockets at the end of the year when they are in health class. Mrs. Conley will have her health class come visit one day, we will go outside and fly them. Can't wait.

7th Grade: They are nearing the end of the second module. Should finish Tuesday or Wed.

8th Grade: Had their dance today so we only had fifth hour class. They are on day 4 of the module. Eighth hour is on day three.

Applied Tech. 1-21-09

6th grade is still working on Space and Rocketry. Both classes learned how to use the Deep Space Explorer software this week. We will continue to use both the Lab Volt "Space and Rocketry" module software and the Deep Space Explorer software for the next five or six days.
ROCKETS ARE DUE TOMORROW, THURSDAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you took your rocket home to paint it, be sure to bring it back.
Remember, painting is for extra credit. No need for mom or dad to have to and go out to buy paint. Use your allowance if you need to buy paint.

7th grade is working independently on the second module. We should finish in about five days. Now that the first module is over the students are "masters" at the Flash Animation software.

8th grade is working independently on the third module now. Second module grades have been posted.

Week Ending 1-9-09

6th Grade finished their first module last week. Grades were good and I believe they learned what technology really is, not just computers and software.
7th Grade: Second hour finished the Computer Animation module Friday, first hour will finish on Monday.
8th Grade: They are in day 4 of the second module.

IOWA tests start next Tuesday, Good Luck.
